Muscat – Following the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to reduce fees related to recruitment of expatriate workforce in the country, the Ministry of Labour will implement the revised fees from today (Wednesday).

The decision, which applies to both issuance and renewal of work permits for expatriates, will see the reduction go up to 85 per cent for companies committed to Omanisation ratio. The new work permit fees for first class professions will be RO301 (previously RO2001), while the rate will be further reduced to RO211 if the company meets the Omanisation percentage.

Visa for specialised and technical positions has been reduced to RO251 (previously RO1001- OR601). The rate will be reduced by 30 per cent to OR176 if the Omanisation ratio is met by companies.

For the unskilled jobs, the visa fees has been reduced to RO210 (previously RO301). A 30 per cent discount will mean paying RO141 in case of meeting the Omanisation percentage.
